Way before the Covid-19 pandemic hit our world, economies, lives & livelihoods, our health systems had been malfunctioning. The challenge: Incentives on volumes, procedures, products & services had largely displaced the ultimate customer in health care from the value chain: the patient. The opportunity: scholars & practitioners around the world have long recognized that a move from volume to value is the key to unlock the quandary of health care. Coupled with the advent of the 4th industrial revolution and a sparkling momentum of digital into health care, we are witnessing - in this wake of a global pandemic - the unique moment to make substantial changes to our systems. Change starts with awareness of what the root causes are, followed by tapping into the toolbox of possible solutions: value-based health care, digitalization & multiparty collaboration across the main decisionmakers of the ecosystem: patients, providers, pharma, payers & policymakers. This is what this interactive session aims to deliver: an open dialogue on what it takes to work better together and restore the broken balance between innovation & affordability towards a resilient health care system akin to the 21st century!
