The DIA Europe 2021 Keynote will focus on how the contributions of genomics and precision medicine can advance the global healthcare priorities. In an unprecedented pandemic with major scientific advances the value of life sciences to the public and patients has been demonstrated through the clear contribution of genomics and precision medicine in the viral surveillance. The 100,000 Genomes Project, launched by the UK Government in late 2012, demonstrates how genomics now touches on so many aspects of our lives ranging across rare diseases, cancer, infections. It also allows to better understand how our genome may predict effectiveness or harm from medicines and, in consequence, of how valuable this information can be for the for the patient and for the healthcare system. Building on the Project's vision of creating the most advanced genomic healthcare ecosystem in the world, where government, the NHS, research and technology communities work together to embed the latest advances in patient care, the UK government launched "Genome UK", which will march genomic medicine into healthcare to usher in an era of precision medicine.
