This session will showcase three focus areas related to patient engagement in clinical trials. First, we’ll hear the site perspective on how to best support sites in their efforts to expand recruitment and enrollment to underrepresented populations through evidence-based execution. Second, a panel discussion on how companies have made DEI in clinical trials a “way of working” from those who have made the investment and done the hard work. Finally, a discussion on misperceptions related to engaging underrepresented patient populations that will help enable a contemporary reset needed to develop stronger relationships (i.e., partnerships) between patients, communities, and clinical researchers.
Learning Objective : - Discuss action-oriented, practical methods to support research sites in enhancing recruitment and enrollment of underrepresented populations
- Recognize the changes necessary to the R&D business model to make DEI possible for every study
- Recognize how mythology can play a role in suppressing participation of underrepresented groups
