Across our industry, the role of the Medical Writer (MW) has been steadily evolving from “document writer” to “team/deliverable leader.” This shift continues to build the value of MWs to their organization and increases opportunities for having a voice at the table. However, will MWs of today be able to rise to the challenge of tomorrow? Preparing our MWs to successfully meet these new leader expectations and thrive in this new strategic environment is critical, but also daunting. This session will discuss the importance of developing future leaders in medical writing and various techniques to support MWs in their transformation from writer to leader.
Learning Objective : - Recognize the unique skill set needed to be an effective MW leader on project teams
- Determine how to create the right environment to build the necessary leadership skills
- Understand what is required to raise our leaders up to help them recognize themselves as future leaders and role models
