Pharmacovigilance as a regulatory science has gained significant traction over the past two decades, primarily focusing on medicinal products within the realm of Modern Scientific Medicine. However, the broad spectrum of Alternative Medicines, which includes systems such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH), along with other lesser-known systems, has not been thoroughly explored from this perspective.
Most alternative medicines are derived from herbs and rely on traditional knowledge passed down through generations rather than rigorously conducted experiments. Given the high usage of these systems by our patients and the general public, it is crucial to delve into the benefit-risk profiles of such products.
In this session, we aim to demystify common misconceptions about the safety of Alternative Medicines and provide an industry Pharmacovigilance perspective on Herbal Products specifically. We are privileged to have two renowned experts, one from academia and the other from the industry, to guide us through this discussion.
Join us to understand the growing omnipresence of Pharmacovigilance and its undeniable role in public health, particularly in the context of AYUSH medicinal products.
