In this session, we shall be discussing on importance of Materiovigilance and its importance in emerging Home-based care systems. Materiovigilance (Mv) deals with adverse events associated with medical devices (MDAEs) and their monitoring. MV has helped to improve the design and efficiency of medical devices and prevent device -associated complications. Health care providers and consumers are made more cognizant of the significance of Mv for the safe use of medical devices.

Healthcare is constantly evolving on how to improve the outcomes and lower the cost of care. Of late we have seen a trend of patient-centric care models, shifting to the home-settings. With COVID-19 pandemic, Telehealth, and widespread use of home-based technologies and services gained momentum and is continuing. Patients too are in for home-based care as it can offer a more comfortable and familiar environment. Further, patients are also expecting healthcare services to be personalized and convenient at an affordable rate. We will be deliberating on the pros and cons of medical device use at home and its regulatory implications.
