Several taxi providers offer service to/from the airport. Follow the signs leading to the Transportation Plazas, on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim level adjacent to each terminal. Taxi fares from the airport to the Convention Center and downtown hotels are based on trip distance and may vary. An average fare is approximately $20. Visit Taxi Fare Finder for fare information throughout San Diego.

Airport Shuttles

Shuttle service is available to/from downtown San Diego hotels, the Gaslamp area, and the Convention Center. Shuttle service is available at the Transportation Plazas across from Airport Terminals 1 and 2.

  • From Terminal 1, cross the skybridge and take the escalators to the street level.
  • From Terminal 2, use the pedestrian crosswalk located outside the Terminal 2 Baggage Claim Area to access the Transportation Plaza.
A Customer Service Representative will place you with the first available shuttle, unless you specify a particular shuttle company.

Visit the SAN website for more information regarding the recommended shuttle companies and their contact information.

MTS

The MTS (Metropolitan Transit System), San Diego's commuter trolley and bus system, is available for transportation to/from the airport and throughout San Diego. There is a trolley station at the Convention Center and within a short walk from most major downtown hotels. Visit the MTS website for additional information.

FRED San Diego

There’s a new way to get around downtown San Diego: the electric, open-air, free ride FRED (Free Ride Everywhere Downtown). Download the app via the FRED San Diego website and request a driver. FRED seats five passengers. Check the website for hours of operation.
