Menú Volver a Patients-Included

DIA Europe 2019 is Accredited as a "Patients Included" Event!

We’re proud to announce that the DIA Europe 2019 is "Patients Included."

Patients Included

This means that we are committed to incorporating the experience of patients as experts in living with their condition while ensuring they are neither excluded nor exploited.

For more information, visit the Patients Included website.

The Patients Included status is self-assessed and based on meeting all five of the charter’s clauses:

Patients or caregivers with experience relevant to the conference’s central theme actively participate in the design and planning of the event, including the selection of themes, topics, and speakers.

Patients or caregivers with experience on the issues addressed by the event participate in its delivery, and appear in its physical audience.

  • The programme agenda has been structured to incorporate the patient perspective within the Patient Engagement Thought Stream, and in other sessions throughout all tracks where a patient perspective is needed.
  • Patients and patient partners with experience or interest in measuring the impact of their involvement in medical product development are featured as speakers, panelists, and discussants throughout the programme.
  • The Patient Partners speaker initiative assists the Programme Committee and session developers with finding the right patient/patient partner to speak in the programme.

Travel and accommodation expenses for patients or carers participating in the advertised programme are paid in full, in advance. Scholarships are provided by the meeting organizers to allow patients or carers affected by the relevant issues to attend as delegates.

  • As speakers, patients invited to speak in sessions will receive a speaker support package to include: registration, travel (when booked through DIA’s travel agent), hotel accommodation expenses (room and tax, when booked through DIA’s housing partner), and per diem. The number of hotel nights and per diem days will depend on the number of speaking assignments (on average up to 2-4 nights are covered by DIA). Registration, travel, and hotel are paid in advance.
  • As attendees, DIA offers Full Fellowships and Registration Waivers to DIA Europe 2019. Interested patients or patient partners must complete the Fellowship Application found here. Deadline for submission is Wednesday, the 5th of December 2018.
  • As attendees, DIA will also facilitate the attendance of patients or patient partners to DIA Europe 2019 through a special discounted rate of €350 for DIA Members, and €385 for Non-Members available throughout the registration period. It is open to all patient advocate groups.

The disability requirements of participants are accommodated. All applicable sessions, breakouts, ancillary meetings, and other programme elements are open to patient delegates.

  • DIA Europe 2019 will be held at the Austria Center Vienna. The facility features accessible entrances, registration and open areas, meeting rooms, parking, and provides assistive devices. DIA has booked sleeping rooms in hotels surrounding the convention center. A complete list of hotels can be viewed here. For specific questions, please contact the hotel directly.

Access for virtual participants is facilitated, with free streaming video provided online, wherever possible.

  • The hashtag #DIAEurope2019 will be actively promoted prior to and during the event across social media platforms so participants, as well as those unable to attend the event, can join the conversation and discuss presentations and key take-aways.
  • DIA will post speaker presentations to the DIA website prior to the conference and for six months after the conference for viewing and downloading by attendees.
  • DIA is exploring the possibilities of audio-recording key panel discussions for wider distribution postconference.
