Travelling to Basel is fast and easy thanks to EuroAirport, which is located just 15 minutes from the city centre. It offers 500 scheduled and charter flights every week and more than 60 destinations to guarantee you a convenient arrival.

    EuroAirport

Just ten minutes’ drive from the city centre and well served by buses, the EuroAirport boasts more than 90 direct flights within Europe, North Africa, Canada and Russia. All other destinations can be reached via intercontinental hubs or nearby Zurich airport.

  • Arrival to Basel by Train

Basel is an important interchange and transport hub and, with its three mainline train stations, offers excellent connections to all Swiss cities and the most important European metropolises. The Swiss Railway station (SBB), the French Railway station (SNCF) and the Badische Bahnhof, operated by German Railway (DB), are all conveniently located in the heart of the city.

    Swiss Railway (SBB)

    French Railway station (SNCF)

    German Railway (DB)

Basel's railway stations enjoy frequent domestic and international services. Trains from France arrive at the French railway station, which is right next to the Swiss (SBB) station.

Guests travelling from Germany can choose whether to get off at Basel SBB or at the German station (Badischer Bahnhof) near the exhibition centre.

  • Arrival to Basel by Car

Basel is also easy to reach by car, as the city lies between the European north-south and east-west motorway junctions. Basel’s hotels and its car parks offer plenty of parking.

A vignette (toll road sticker) is required to use the Swiss motorway network. You can purchase it for CHF 40 at all customs offices, post offices, petrol stations, garages, road traffic offices and from Basel Tourism. Once you have arrived in the city, more than 4,000 parking spaces await you in Basel’s car parks.

Another option is to purchase a visitor parking ticket for a half or full day from a Basel Public Transport ticket machine. This entitles you to park in all the spaces in the blue zone in Basel and Riehen.

Mandatory use of lights for daytime driving

Since 1 January 2014, the use of daytime running lights or dipped headlights is mandatory in Switzerland even when driving during the day. This applies to all motor vehicles, including motorcycles and mopeds.
